摘要
This study examines marriage in China since 1978. It deals with the following questions : what issues does marriage raise in today's China ? What legal treatment applies to domestic violence ? Our hypothesis is that marriage in China is dominated by two traditions : filial piety and the promotion of harmony. Both have been given new life by the Communist Party of China. However, although Chinese society adheres, to varying degrees, to filial piety, harmony is based more on representations. The study examines the effects of the two traditions on approaches to marriage in today's China. The first part looks at the legal and political context for marriage in China, while the second part deals with the influence of filial piety on marriage. Last, the third part examines the legal treatment of domestic violence in relation to the rhetoric on harmony.
