A REDEFINITION OF THE EUROPE'S POLITICAL PROFIL FROM SOCIAL-DEMOCRACY TO LIBERAL-ECONOMIC STATE: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS FROM HABERMAS

The study shows the critical analysis of Jurgen Habermas on the redefinition of the Europe's political role, more focused on social justice and solidarity, to a predominantly economic bias, closer to productivity and competition from the economic-liberal version. The political change seeks to strengthen the economic pillar of the monetary union for the implementation of the International Monetary Fund economic adjustment programs. The consequences of the European Union's choice of a neoliberal Europe format market is the dismantling of the welfare state (mode focused on social justice) and the corrosion of the democratic element of national democracies (the empty of the democracy). The political consequence of is option by neoliberalism is the supranational centralization of regulatory powers to European agencies and transnational bodies (European Central Bank, European Commission, European Court, European Parliament), which deal with agreements, contracts and international treaties which should operate as an equivalent to a political regulation. The problem is the approval, behind closed doors, measures aimed at the control of economic policy at the expense of policy coordination. This implies the imposition of resolutions in central areas of responsibility of the Parliaments of member states, strengthening the national States the necessary legitimation problems to implement the recommended policies from above, explaining the failure in the construction of monetary union by the absence of common economic policy instruments.
