CALCULATION OF A FLOW OF A THERMALLY NONEQUILIBRIUM ARGON PLASMA IN A PLASMATRON CHANNEL WITH SUDDEN EXPANSION

The results of modeling of sub- and supersonic flows of a thermally nonequilibrium argon electric-arc plasma in the channel of a plasmatron and the cavity of an adjoining vacuum chamber are presented. A single-liquid two-temperature model based on the complete system of Navier-Stokes equations is employed. This system makes it possible to perform calculations in regions where the boundary-layer approximation, usually employed for this problem, is inapplicable. A modification of the control-volume method for flows of thermally nonequilibrium plasma is developed. The computational results for flow in a plasmatron with the gas introduced into the plasmatron and flowing out into the vacuum chamber along the axis are presented
