POTENTIAL INDUCED CHANGES IN THE ELECTRONIC STATES OF MONOLAYER GUANINE ON GRAPHITE IN NACL SOLUTION

摘要
Monolayer guanine on graphite has been studied in NaCl solution by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) as a function of the substrate potential. The STM image of the monolayer changes dramatically as the potential varies, while the AFM image shows no changes over a broad potential range. The observation indicates that the electronic states of organic films can be modified and controlled at solid-liquid interfaces, and STM can provide a local measurement of potential dependent electronic states.
