EFFECT OF IRRIGATION, NITROGEN AND SULFUR LEVELS ON THE GROWTH, YIELD ATTRIBUTES, YIELD, QUALITY AND WATER-USE OF TORIA (BRASSICA-CAMPESTRIS SUBSP OLEIFERA VAR-TORIA)
A field trial was conducted during the winter seasons of 1987-88 and 1988-89 to study the effect of irrigation. nitrogen and sulphur on yield and quality of toria [Brassica campestris L. subsp. oleifera (Metzger) Sinsk. var. toria]. N @ 40 kg and S @ 30 kg/ha significantly increased the growth, seed yield and water-use efficiency of toria. Oil content in seed was increased by 9.8% due to application of S @ 30 kg/ha compared with the control. Irrigation at 0.2 irrigation water depth : cumulative pan evaporation (IW : CPE) ratio showed the beneficial effect on growth and yield of toria. However, water-use efficiency was higher in no irrigation.
