摘要：
This article is intended to show that modern science decisively influenced the Hobbes' conception of human nature presented in Leviathan. In addition to this, it defends that such a conception underpins the notion of sovereign power that he proposed. Based on the geometric method, Hobbes formulated a mechanistic view of human nature that reflects the changes of perception of the universe which occurred during his life time.
