THE ISSUE OF TRANSLATING MUSICAL SCIENCE TERMINOLOGY FROM THE FRENCH LANGUAGE INTO THE SLOVAK LANGUAGE

The musical science terminology represents a wide area of terminological sub-areas in musical science. Whether musical instruments are concerned or music forms and styles, music theory, acoustics or ways of interpretation, etc, the terminology gives the base for communication within certain fields. Apart from that, it is terminologically complicated. When translating something from a foreign language into Slovak, many difficulties may occur, not only if a special text is translated but also au artistic one, where lexica belonging to musical science can be found. In our report we compare some problems in musical science terminology translations in Slovak texts translated from the French language into Slovak, and we suggest possible solutions.
