摘要：
Michail Ploumis and Labros E. Pilalis argue that major factors that have caused social unrest in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) include poverty, unemployment among the youth, lack of economic opportunities, and political disenfranchisement. These factors exacerbate religious fundamentalism and increase the influence of violent groups with extreme ideologies. Michail Ploumis and Labros E. Pilalis also examine the basic economics of MENA countries today and makes recommendations to secure a more stable, peaceful, and prosperous future in the region.
