ALBERTO MOSQUERA'S DISPARATORIOS: A POETRY OF DIVERGENCE

Disparatorios is the title Alberto Mosquera (1904-1967) gave to his single book of poems, published in three editions: 1932, 1942, and 1955. This article addresses the work of a little known Colombian poet, in the context of his life, the nature of his poetics, and the national and regional literary tradition. It also discusses the contrasting assessments of his poetry offered by readers such as Guillermo Valencia and Fernando Gonzalez, as well as the attempts to situate his poetry in the context of Colombian poetry.
