POSITRON RECYCLING IN HIGH-ENERGY LINEAR COLLIDERS

摘要
A positron recycling scheme is presented which is capable of recovering at least 90% of the disrupted positron beam for a 2 x 250 GeV linear collider. The beam is separated from the oncoming electron beam and radiation damped in a several kilometers long wiggler section. The beam is then ready to be reinjected into the positron damping ring. Energy spread due to beamstrahlung and beam disruption are considered on the basis of existing numerical as well as analytical studies. Chromatic effects in the separation and matching section are compensated by sextupole magnets. Secondary effects of the wigglers, as for instance transverse emittance growth due to quantum fluctuations and nonlinear field components, are estimated analytically.
