SOCIAL WORK WITH IMMIGRANTS. RESILIENCE AS A STARTING POINT IN THE SOCIAL INTERVENTION

The current investigation aims at exploring the incorporation of the resilience approach in relation to the professional intervention of social work with immigrants. Based on a descriptive study with a mixed design, a qualitative approximation to the object of study is carried out using semi-structured interviews involving sixteen Social Work professionals. Besides, a quantitative approach to the immigrant collective, participating 128 respondents, has been performed using a survey. The results show the Social Work professional as the key referent aimed at dealing with immigrants so as to help them solve their difficulties during the integrative process. These professionals incorporate resilient strategies thus giving credibility to their intervention even though possible improvements and challenges are detected. We conclude by highlighting the potential of the resilience approach for all the professionals in the social work field, in order to promote wellbeing and good practices in future interventions.
