PROBLEMS WITH THE REPAIRS OF THE LOWER ZONE OF THE ALTAR OF ST. BARBARA IN THE CHURCH OF THE ASUMPTION OF THE VIRGIN MARY IN KLOSTAR IVANIC

The altar of St. Barbara is an item in the rich inventory of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The paper discusses the repairs to its badly damaged lower zone, which had been dismantled and kept in inadequate conditions, and various problems encountered during the restoration of the damaged wooden structure. Furthermore, it presents the decisions that had to be made in relation to the preservation of the original altar layer. During the investigation of the polychromy, an inscription on the predella was uncovered that revealed some new information about this artefact.
