MAGNETOCRYSTALLINE ANISOTROPY AND SPIN REORIENTATION IN NDFE(12-X)MO(X) AND NDFE12-XMOXNY COMPOUNDS (X=0.5, 1,0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 AND Y-APPROXIMATE-TO-1.0)

Spin reorientation transitions have been detected in NdFe12-xMox by measuring the temperature dependence of the a.c. susceptibility in the temperature range from 4.2 to 300 K. No spin reorientation was traced in NdFe12xMoxNy. Uniaxial anisotropy was detected in NdFe12-xMoxNy. The temperature dependence of the uniaxial anisotropy field of NdFe12-xMoxNy and NdFe12-xMox has been measured in the temperature range from 170 to about 550 K by using the singular point detection (SPD) technique in a pulsed-field magnetometer. NdFe11MoN1.3 and NdFe10Mo2N0.9 can be considered as possible materials for permanent magnet fabrication, however, with less chance to compete with Nd2Fe14B and/or Sm2Fe17Nx.
