ARISTOTLE'S PHILOSOPHICAL PRAXIS AND ITS INFLUENCE ON GADAMER'S HERMENEUTICS

The present essay has as its main objective to draw attention to some aspects of the phenomenon of akrasia in the construction of the philosophical thought of Aristotle, as well as in the construction of his ethical and political thought as based on the virtue of phronesis. We show how the philosophy of Aristotelian praxis has served as an essential basis for the foundation of the hermeneutic philosophy of the contemporary philosopher flans-Georg Gadamer. The later rehabilitates some specific aspects of Aristotelian philosophy, especially its communitarian and critical conception of the experience of values necessary for the collective harmony of the city.
