摘要：
The concepts of information content of the analytical signal and the information gain of the result of quantitative analysis are distinguished. The information content and gain are expressed using different measures and some conclusions are presented which are useful for the selection of an analytical method and for the optimalization of the analytical procedure which follow from the relationship between the information content of the signal and the information gain of the result.
