The main mortality causes in reproductive age women in Colombia are: violence deaths (8,878 cases/100,000) for a rate of 12.9, traffic accidents (805 cases) with a rate of 8/100,000 and complications of pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum (722 cases) for a total rate of 7.1/100,000. To decrease the mortality rate in this group of women is necessary to stablish the minimal parameters to guarantee the of health care with scientific rationality in the development of activities, procedures and interventions during the pregnancy follow up. The pregnancy follow up and evaluation imply, he would be at the time, likes the follow-up and managing of the patient, ideally from before the conception, in order to achieve the best conditions for the mother and the fetus. Bearing the previous thing in mind and in consideration that the same norm of the Ministerio de la Proteccion Social imposes that prenatal control is preferentially an act of primary care this review is done from the optics of family physician, emphasizing activities that they have demonstrated to have scientific evidence.
