摘要
Objective: The severity cerebral trauma classification system based on the Glasgow coma scale has stayed as standard in the management of these patients. This work is guided to analyze the degradations in the Glasgow scores founded in these cases. Method: A descriptive study was carried out of all patients admitted in the Traumatology and Neurosurgery services in one year period with mild cerebral trauma. Patients whose clinical records could not be located or that died secondary of serious extra cranial lesions were excluded. The sample was made up of 252 patients that were interviewed starting from the clinical records. The variables were processed by means of distribution of frequencies and hypothesis proportion tests. Results: A total of 14 patients suffered degradation of the Glasgow score. The 57, 14% of this group presented initial Glasgow of 13 points. Conclusions: It is not very reliable to predict the occurrence of degradation of the level of conscience in patients with mild cerebral trauma only on the base of the initial Glasgow score.
