DETERMINATION OF HYDROGEN-PEROXIDE BY A PHOTOCHEMICAL METHOD

Optimal conditions for the photogeneration of the reduced form of Rose Bengal (RB) is described in detail. RB(red) is generated through the photochemical reaction between RB and EDTA. The RB(red) is a suitable reductimetric titrant for the hydrogen peroxide (if hemoglobin is present). Consequently a method for the determination of H2O2 in the range of 0.3-7 mug/ml has been developed with "in situ" photochemical generation of RN(red). The end point in the photochemical titration is detected by a photometric technique. The method has succesfully applied to the determination of hydrogen peroxide in milk.
