AN INVESTIGATION OF THE FLUORESCENCE BEHAVIOR OF 4-(N,N-DIMETHYLAMINO) BENZONITRILE COOLED IN A SUPERSONIC JET

摘要
Laser-induced fluorescence excitation and dispersed fluorescence spectra of the jet-cooled DMABN bare molecule are reported. Under conditions of high sample number density a continuous spectral component was observed in excitation and dual emission with markedly different lifetimes, was observed in the dispersed fluorescence spectra. The short-wavelength short-lived, fluorescence is attributed to emission from the locally excited (b*) state of monomers and the "red fluorescence", which is long-lived, is attributed to a dimeric state.
