SYNTHESIS OF UNPROTECTED 2-DEOXYGLYCOSYL DONORS, S-(2-DEOXY-ALPHA-D-ARABINO-HEXOPYRANOSYL)-0,0-DIALKYLPHOSPHORODITHIOATES

Sugar-O-unprotected S-(2-deoxyglycosyl)phosphorodithioates were synthesized by two routes: 1) Addition of O,O-dialkylphosphorodithioic acids to unsubstituted D-glucal 2) Deprotection of the adducts obtained by addition of phosphorodithioic acids to 4,6-O-isopropylidene-D-glucal. These sugar-O-unprotected 2-deoxyglycosyl phosphorodithioates were obtained in high yield and their ability to act as glycosyl donors was demonstrated.
