MAPPING OF USE AND LAND COVER IN THE WATERSHED OF RIBEIRAO SAO JOAO, IN PORTO NACIONAL, TOCANTINS

The objective of this paper was to obtain the mapping of use and land cover in the watershed of Ribeirao Sao Joao from the image fusion techniques and hybrid image classification in Spring-INPE software. Remote sensing has enabled a comprehensive analysis of the patterns cover of the spaces on the Earth's surface. Several studies have monitored the dynamics of land use and its cover and measured the remaining forests. The fusion technique was applied to Cbers images, CCD sensor and HRC. We also used satellite images from Ressourcesat to get for current information of land use and coverage. We analyzed and classified classes of water bodies, urban areas, pasture and planted forest area in the years 2009 and 2012. In the results found it was possible to verify an evolution of the urban grid, the implantation of pastures and the creation of water reservoirs for several purposes, causing the fragmentation and removal of vegetation. The application of satellite images merged in determining the use and land cover offers accuracy to analysis by presenting high spatial resolution. The images of lower spatial resolution, in the case of Landsat and Ressourcesat satellites, were essential in determining the dynamics of the use and land cover in the watershed.
