SPECTRAL CONTRIBUTION OF COHERENT MOTIONS IN A TURBULENT BOUNDARY-LAYER

The purpose of this work is to study in a turbulent boundary layer scale decompositions associated with the occurence of coherent events, using the wavelet transformation as an analysis tool. This transformation is a relatively recent mathematical technique that allows a localized analysis both in scale and in time. The coherent events, such as sweeps and ejections, are detected either by the quadrant analysis method using the velocity components u, and v, or by the VITA and WAG algorithms using temperature as a passive marker.
