The text focuses its analysis on a "story-essay" -"New Theses about the Short Story" - by the Argentine writer Ricardo Piglia. This essay is included in the book Brief Forms (2000). The article begins with a more general discussion of the book, in which one can find written testimonies, readings, and allusions to literary life and the writer's office. In this book one can also find an essay form which uses fiction as a tool. This is why the article analyzes "New Theses about the Short Story" (the last essay of the group), in an attempt to make visible the hybridization of Piglia's writing: in this text critical reflection is formulated through fictional creation.
