Dietary supplements consumption by body builders in a gym in Fortaleza-CE

The use of dietary supplements is increasingly common, either in high yield or among practitioners of physical activities with very different goals. The study aimed to determine the incidence of the use of dietary supplements in people who practice bodybuilding at a gym in Fortaleza-CE. The sample consisted of 31 individuals of both genders. According to the results it was found that 61% (n=19) of participants does not make use of dietary supplements, while 39% (n=12) of respondents reported use of some type of dietary supplement. It was found that the most consumed food protein supplements were 37% (n=10) then appear as vitamins and minerals 19% (n=5). Among individuals who reported using some form of dietary supplement, no difference was found regarding the kind in use among men 50% (n=6) and women 50% (n=6). Therefore, it's concluded that the majority of respondents do not consume dietary supplements, and among those who reported they used, it was observed that the protein supplements are the most consumed. The study identified that there are no differences in the consumption of dietary supplements between the sexes.
