This article addresses the artistic and pedagogic experience of an independent group of performers, professors and students from Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabi with the people affected by the earthquake in the coast of Ecuador on April 16th, 2016. It also refers therapeutic actions from the field of applied arts to secondary school and university professors and students. The praxis generated with this intervention was the starting point to develop a systematization and analysis process supported by bibliography and studies of similar experiences in the Latin American context, as well as research related to artistic pedagogy and art therapy. The positive impact of art and education in the process of emotional recovery of the victims of natural or social catastrophes was demonstrated.
