摘要
This article aims to deal with Mathematics Teaching throughout the ages, its recognized importance and the difficulties that persist in the literacy process. It presents the teacher as responsible for the appropriation of teaching methodologies, necessary to better meet the demands of the student, also questioning the resistance of teachers to seek novelties to improve their practice and motivate students who show disinterest for the discipline. This is a bibliographic study whose methodology is based on books, articles, magazines and Internet sites. It is concluded that, at present, it is recognized that there is no true citizenship without a minimum mastery of Mathematics, this being one of the most important sciences of modern society. It adopts basic concepts and procedures, contributing to the formation of the future citizen who will engage in the world of work, social, cultural and political relations. Understanding and using the basic ideas of Mathematics in everyday life is a right for all students and not just for some.
