SIMPLE ALGORITHM FOR ECONOMIC-POWER DISPATCH

A straightforward and computationally efficient method is presented for economic power dispatch. The familiar B coefficients are used for the evaluation of transmission losses, incremental transmission losses and penalty factors. The method of evaluating the incremental transmission losses is justified by means of test results. The algorithm is tailored suitably to accommodate system load as well as network topology changes. A sample system is tested to show the computational capability and the proposed approach was found to produce a fuel cost which deviates less from the accurate value than a previous direct method.
