Internal Consistency and Dimensionality of the Personality Assessment Inventory in University Students in Buenos Aires

This paper presents psychometric analyses of the personality assessment inventory in college students (N= 374; 50.4% females, 49.6% males; M-age=23.71, DE=3.28) attending public and private institutions from Buenos aires and its suburbs. Internal consistency was examined using Cronbach's alphas, showing mostly values for the clinical scales related to the treatment and interpersonal relationship, and lower for validity scales and sub-scales. Analyses of principal components were made with varimax rotation. When including the 22 scales a five dimension structure was isolated. Whereas when considering the 11 clinical scales three factos were detected. Complementary analyses were developed in order to examine the congruence of factorization with that of previous versions, verifying a moderate fit in most calculations. Further investigations will go on analyzing psychometric features of PAI.
