El Album de la Mujer (1883-1890), is one of the literary magazines aimed at the female reading public in Mexico during the late 19th Century. It offers a particular vision regarding the role of middle-class women in society. Among the characteristics that make this publication stand out from others of its time -the foreign owner and director, the inclusion of Hispanic and Hispanic American perspectives, and great works and literary authors-the one that guides this research is the marketing of scientific discourse to 19th-Century women. A detailed investigation of the magazine reveals that science, far from having a unique, coherent vision regarding the place of women in society, worked as a space of negotiation where several unexpected perspectives met, traditional as well as more newer and more resistant.
