The authors review methods of intravascular operations on the vessels of the brain and spinal cord and describe their own experience and technical equipment without which these operations cannot be safely performed, They define the extent of possible obstruction of blood vessels in arteriovenous shunts and malformations of cerebral vessels as well as of the dura mater and similar structures in the spinal canal, The authors mention possibilities of embolization of aneurysms and dilatation of blood vessels in arterial spasms after subarachnoidal haemorrhage, Embolization of the blood vessels supplying cerebral and intracranial tumours facilitates surgery and reduces blood losses during operation.
