Activating the invisible: data processing and parallel computing in architectural design

摘要
This article presents design work undertaken during the past three years at the Graduate Architectural Design programme at Bartlett School of Architecture. The work explores design strategies based on massively parallel computing as a mean of addressing complex system design. Through the use of intersecting models such as multi-agent systems and simulated physics models, these projects show a possible way for designers to address interdependent and multi-contextual design challenges by setting up, through code, a generative environment based on artificial biological and physical laws, or behavioural rules.
