COMPLEXES OF MOLYBDENUM(V) WITH DITHIOCARBAMATE DERIVED FROM ALPHA-AMINO-ACIDS

摘要
Complexes formed through reaction of dithiocarbamate derived from alpha-amino acids with molybdenum(V) chloride in an inert atmosphere have been synthesized. These same complexes have also been prepared by the reduction of sodium molybdate with dithionite in an acidic medium. Chemical analyses for the complexes indicate the general formula [Mo2O4(dtc a.a.)2].2H2O, where a.a. is the corresponding amino acid. No absorption band for the Mo2O42+ moiety was recorded in the visible range. IR spectra indicate that the carboxyl group is in the acid form, without binding to the metal cation. X-ray photoelectron spectra confirm the oxidation state of the molybdenum ions (Mo5+), and that both sulphur atoms of the dithiocarbamate unit are equivalent.
