摘要
The aim of the present paper is to highlight, within the work frame of 20TH century philosophy, some of the theoretical foundations of Paulo Freire's pedagogy. This is a necessary task in order to shed some light on the essential items of a pedagogic approach of enormous importance for adult education and adult literacy in Latin America. The author has specially focused on those thinkers which can be related to three main aspects of Freire's approach: 1) Ideologies as an element of social reproduction and how to overcome them through "becoming aware"; 2) Locating the starting point of the literacy and educational process on the border line situation experienced by the oppressed; 3) The dialogical nature of the human being and its fundamental openness.
