摘要：
In this essay La hojarasca -first novel written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez-is analyzed in terms of the socio-historical phenomena (modernization, processes of identity, of urbanization, of colonization) that structured the Colombian Caribbean zone. This study pretends to show a socio-critical scope of the text that illustrates the emergency of a Caribbean vision of the world, side to side to the "Mise en abyme" that implies the socioeconomic transformation of a "New Settlement" (Ribeiro, 1982), as main elements of the narrative and manifestations of a speculative way to observe reality.
