SYNTHESIS OF SOME 2,5-DISUBSTITUTED DERIVATIVES OF L-RHAMNOSE

摘要：

Methyl 2,5-di-O-methyl-L-rhamnofuranoside (4) has been prepared by selective isopropylidenation of L-rhamnose-1,1-dimethylene dithioacetal (1) to give dithioacetal (2) which on methylation in the presence of sodium hydride-methyl iodide in dry THF furnish dithioacetal (3). Dethioacetalation of 3 with mercuric chloride-mercuric oxide in aq. acetonitrile followed by methyl glycosylation with 2% methanolic HCI afford compound 4.
