摘要
The cell surface antigen defined by the cluster of CD99 is detected by a number of monoclonal antibodies, including HBA-71, 12E7, and O13. These antibodies react with cortical thymocytes and most T-lymphoblastic lymphomas and have been found to be useful in distinguishing Ewing's sarcoma and related tumors from other small round cell tumors. However, CD99 is not specific for these tumors, since it also reacts with a variety of epithelial and neuroendocrine tumors, and sporadically with various non-Ewing-type sarcomas. In this review we outline the historical background and the biochemical nature of the antigen and its associated antibodies, as well as the literature experience with the various antibodies that detect CD99. We also present our experience with this marker in more than 600 tumors of various types.
