The beta-pinene is a monoterpene present in essential oils of some medicinal plants. Among its pharmacological effects, antibacterial, hypotensive, myorelaxing, and anticonvulsant activities have been described in the literature. Thus, this work aimed to perform a screening of research that were developed and patented, evaluating the various uses described for beta-pinene. The technological forecasting was conducted in the European Patent Office, the Bank of World Intellectual Property Organization, the Bank of America Patent and Trademark Office Database and the National Institute of Industrial Property of Brazil. It was concluded that the codes from international classification most abundant in this forecasting survey were C08F and C07C. Among the major depositors are the United States and European Patent Office. Furthermore, there are few patents with A61K code, making the beta-pinene a promising compound in technological preparations for health.
