摘要
Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization is a recently developed new ionization technique which enables macromolecular compounds to be investigated by mass spectrometry. The general features of the technique are described, they have so far mainly been worked out for biopolymers such as proteins. Fast and precise molecular weight determination is possible up to 400,000 Dalton. First examples described in this paper indicate that the technique also holds great promise for the investigation of synthetic polymers.
