摘要
Radiative properties of free excitons in a single GaAs quantum well are studied under resonant excitation. Superradiant decay of the excitons is evidenced by the very short lifetime as well as by the strong intensity of the signal. Dephasing mechanisms, by destroying the phase coherence of the excitons, increase the observed lifetime. Quantitative agreement between the lifetime, the intensity and the homogeneous broadening is obtained. We deduce a radiative lifetime of 8 ps in the absence of dephasing mechanisms.
