ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SHEAR INDEX AND ENERGY IN DYNAMIC TEAR SPECIMENS

摘要：
Comparison of fracture energy and shear index in a series of dynamic tear (DT) tests of quench and tempered carbon and low alloy steels and their weldments has shown that the shear index is related to the fracture energy of the specimens over a wide range of temperatures, compositions and weldment locations. Data have been acquired from samples of HY80, HY100 and QT28 steels, submerged arc welds of HY80 and HSLA80, gas metal arc welds of HY80 and shielded metal arc welds of HY100.
