This article, designed for both consulting practitioners and academics, reveals what it is like to do a high-level and high-profile client consultancy. This consultancy was highly informed by and assumes a working knowledge of instructional communication theory, research, and methods as well as drawing upon contemporary communication scholarship and applied research. This report discusses how the Federal Reserve Board/ Federal Reserve Bank System was obtained as a client, summarizes the objectives of the consultation, describes what processes helped meet those objectives, and as a result of those processes what were the deliverables made available to the client. Of note is that this particular consultancy is contextualized within the parameters of applied communication scholarship, and that communication success and effectiveness during crises, emergencies, and disasters are the foundational communication issues that are addressed.
