摘要
The egg rafts of Culex pipiens L. (Diptera : Culicidae) are shown to become adhesive and stable through the attachment of their exochorions. The tops of the tubercles in the chorions adhere to the exochorions of adjacent eggs. Around the perimeter of the egg, the tubercles vary in size, being largest on the convex side of the egg. It is established that the water-jacket of the chorion enters through the hole in the centre of the corolla, from which it immediately spreads into the submesh-work space. The ultrastructure of the chorion is similar in several culicid-genera, including Culex, Aedes and Mansonia.
