The role of public policy in implementing IPM

The implementation of IPM has been hindered in many cases by a lack of policies aimed at promoting it. IPM technology has been developed but not fully implemented, either because of a lack of understanding of its potential to meet social needs or a lack of will to introduce necessary supporting policies. In other cases, IPM technology has not even been developed because of a lack of policy support. The role and potential of policies to promote IPM are examined, particularly in the context of pest management problems in Central America.
