Relationships were derived for determining the three kinetic parameters of a general nth-order decomposition reaction from a single DTA curve. Doyle's approximation for the integral of the Arrhenius exponential function was used. The derivation was divided into three categories, for n > 1, n = 1, and n < 1. Kissinger's semiempirical equation was employed to estimate the reaction order. The obtained relationships are fairly simple and the calculated results agree well with literature data. In particular, for n < 1, the calculation is straightforward without any iteration.
