摘要：

The article focuses onissues of developing intercultural communicative competence in the context of modern foreign language education in Bulgaria. Based on extensive research done in 2009-2010 it argues that intercultural communicative competence should be addressed systematically in the process of learning English at school. It also refers to a subsequent development and trialling out of pedagogical technology in the practice of learning English intensively in the 8th grade of Bulgarian secondary schools.
