FAO INITIATIVES IN AGROFORESTRY TRAINING IN LATIN-AMERICA

In response to the request of its member countries from the Latin America and the Caribbean to help promote agroforestry, FAO has initiated a number of activities in the region. These include a regional project 'Demonstration and Training in Agroforestry in Latin America', an 'International Workshop on the Formulation of a Project on Demonstration and Training in Agroforestry for the Amazon', held in January 1993, and the project 'Participative Forestry Development in the Andes'. Currently, FAO assistance to the countries of the region in their efforts to promote agroforestry include 'The Latin American Technical Cooperation Network on Agroforestry Systems', FAO's country-specific technical cooperation projects, and assistance in obtaining development-bank loans through missions of the 'FAO Investment Center'.
