摘要
Objective: In this study, we aimed to investigate the association between physical fitness and skipping breakfast among Japanese junior high school students. Methods: Junior high school students in Japan (N = 365) were measured for physical fitness, dietary intake, and lifestyle. Participants were divided into 2 groups, breakfast eaters and breakfast skippers. Results: In the pooled sample, there were no differences in total and individual fitness test scores. However, total physical fitness scores among 9th-grade girls were significantly lower in the breakfast skipper group (p < .05). There was no association between skipping breakfast and lifestyle among 9th-grade girls. Conclusions: Our results suggest that factors other than skipping breakfast, such as nutrient or sleep deficiency, may lower physical fitness scores.
