摘要
Research of successive stages of two stands dominated by birch (Betula pendula Ram.) of natural regeneration origin on abandoned agricultural lands was done in 2008. Stand analyses were realized within circular plots placed in regular networks. Basic stand characteristics differed mostly clue to different stand densities. high density of trees in (Cerveny Kostelec locality (37,000 per ha) affected stand characteristics: basal area was 52 m(2).ha(-1) at the age of 8 years. Trees being 2 - 3 cm in diameter dominated in the stand, whereas a share of trees over 7 cm in diameter was 7% only. As for Krahulec locality, species composition varied more, birch and goat willow dominated in overstorey. Other species formed mainly understorey. Stand density was 4,600 individuals per ha, basal area 7.9 m(2).ha(-1). Share of standing dead trees exceeded 20% in both experiments. High number of trees positively influenced tree quality.
