摘要
Uniaxial waves in nonlinear elastic solids are cosidered. The nature of waves whether simple or shock is characterized on the basis of nonlinear properties of the elastic material as well as the impact boundary conditions. For an analysis of shock front nonlinear shock evolution equations are obtained and solved for the evolution of shock in time. Numerical results for uniaxial waves in nonlinear elastic metallic and nonmetallic solids are obtained by two different methods. There is good agreement in the numerical results in both the simple and shock waves for all cases considered in this study.
