The contributions of Systemic Functional Linguistic in texts analysis: a multifunctional and multimodal analysis of an advertisement

摘要
This essay attempts to reflect about the contribution of Systemic Functional Linguistic for texts' analysis, as well as the importance of a textual theory of language (Halliday, 2004), a theory that looks at the language being used in different contexts and different genres. This paper notices the several semiotic modes employed in advertisements adding specific meanings. Thus, we also take into account the postulations of The Grammar of Visual Design offered by Kress and van Leeuwen (2006) given the interrelation with Halliday's theory.
